Fisrt Days

Well, I've gone through all my classes now. We go on a Mon/Wed/Fri same classes and Tue/Thur same classes schedule. So I have four classes mon/wed/fri & two tue/thur.

There is going to be a lot of reading this semester, especially in Old & New Tes & Christian Thought. I have to read the whole Qur'an, along with other books written by Muslims, which should be interesting (for Islamic history class, not Bible).

All the teachers are good, I can see some classes that might be a bit awkward, some that'll need coffee, and others that will be very interesting and lively.

It's kind of strange not being at a public school, a very different atmosphere.

And, so far so good with dorm life. There's always been a shower free when I need it and my roommate is very nice and sarcastic. We're working quite well together! ;)

Time to go read...

Class Changes

Add Old Testament and take away Intro to Buddhism. I'm sad about losing Intro to Buddhism, it would have been a great class, but I don't need it and I do need Old Testament, so that's just how it goes. I'm anticipating really liking Old Tes.

Regular

There's a coffee shop called Divan Cafe, whose owners are originally from New Zealand, right next to Edmonds CC, so I go there often. It's exciting now because all the gals there know who I am and what I'm going to order! I love it cause now there's one that I've gotten to know pretty well. She's a big talker, she can go on and on! It's nice to be a regular and to know my baristas. And it makes getting coffee on my 15 minute breaks easier. ;)

Good Morning

I used to despise getting up early, I absolutely dreaded the days when I had to set my alarm clock earlier than 9:00. But now, my feelings are quite the opposite! I love getting up early, especially in the summer when the sun is up to greet me! I wake up about 5:30 now and it makes the day so much longer and I'm much more productive throughout the day. I simply have a better day when I have a few hours to myself before I have to get to work or school. It's simply wonderful! I constantly have the song 'Good Morning Life' by Dean Martin stuck in my head, I want sing it as I come into work (too bad my life isn't a musical):

Good morning life

Good morning sun how are your skies above

Gee it's great to be alive and in love

Good morning life

Good morning birds sing out your happy tunes

Feels so good because I'll be seeing her soon

Last night she said she loved me

What a pity to part

I slept with both eyes open waiting for today to start

Good morning life

Good morning world how are you happiness

All at once I know what livin' can be

It's life, it's free, it's someone waiting for me

Who'll someday be my wife, good morning life

Good morning life

Good morning life

Last night she said she loved me

What a pity to part

I slept with both eyes open waiting for today to start

Good morning life

Good morning world how are you happiness

All at once I know what livin' can be

Ah it's life, it's free, it's someone waiting for me

Who'll someday be my wife, good morning life

Kind of silly, but the morning and this song make me happy! Although I'm not looking to any gal to be my wife...The love of my life is my Father and we never have to part! Now that's something to sing about!!!

Mihály Munkácsy "The Condemned"

This has to be one of my favorite paintings, when I first saw it at the Frye it stood out to me more than any other picture. I find it beautiful and interesting. It makes me curious to know this man's story, I want to know why he's there. I want to know him. Is he guilty? What's in the notebook on the floor? It brings on emotions, and I believe that is important when looking at art.

Camping trip

I went on another camping trip with Laura and Amy. We had a lot of fun. We played pretend and ran away from bad guys in the woods. I felt like I was ten again. It was simply amazing! Here are some pics. Traveling with Laura and Amy we say a rock outcrop and simply had to stop, it turned out to be Phyllite, has some of the same properties as slate.

Geology Trip

Laura, Amy and I went to Rosario Head at Deception Pass for a geology class project, here are some pics from the trip. It was very informative and interesting. I learned a lot more than I could contain. We found churt and slate on our little expedition!

Very, very late China pics

China this last summer was simply amazing. Sorry it's taken me so long to put pictures up.
